If you like wine and you are looking to experience something new in Costa Rica this weekend, here are some options that you may want to consider:

Vintage Don Teófilo: The last vintage or wine grape harvest of the year in the Don Teófilo vineyard will take place on Sunday, July 30. Located in the community of Grifo Alto de Puriscal. This artisan winery came to life in 1989 and currently produces wine and other grape products. Here you can experience harvesting the grapes and receive information on the wine-making process. The tour is short, just close to 30 minutes, you can enjoy some lunch with a glass of wine and of course if you choose to, you can buy a bottle or another of their products. Don Julian Wine Tour: This Saturday, July 29 and Sunday, July 30, Don Julian winery located in Pérez Zeledón will be offering their 15th Wine Tour. The tour only takes two hours and it’s a unique experience that takes you in a guided tour of the vineyard and property. There are several options to choose from, the most expensive one is just about $23.00 per person and it includes lunch, wine tasting, snack and a bottle of wine, if you choose to just do the guided walk then the price per person is of only $10.00. This company has been in the market for over 20 years, and it offers wine from different fruits such as blackberries and apricots. In total, they offer more than 14 varieties of wine. Reservations for this tour can be done by calling 8704-5587. The tour is programmed from 10 a.m. to 12 noon and it’s for small groups of no more than 15 people.

El Espavey:
In Chiraca de Acosta you will find a beautiful property, part of which is a vineyard and the rest is dedicated to agriculture. You can visit the property anytime, all you need to do is call in advance to get information on the hours they will be open, the number is 8385-7107. This time of the year, end of July beginning of August, they will be harvesting their grapes, so it’s a perfect time to plan your visit.

The areas where these vineyards are located are beautiful so even if the tour is short you will enjoy scenic views and amazing rural communities.
