Sexual education in Costa Rica is a fairly novel concept that in recent years has gone beyond the realm of public schools. Thanks to new radio and television productions, people in Costa Rica can now enjoy healthy conversations about sexuality, an important aspect of life that involves both physiological and emotional well-being.
One of the better known personalities in terms of sexual education in Costa Rica is Dr. Mauro Fernandez, who can currently be heard on the radio and seen on television. Lately, one of the most consistently discussed topics on Dr. Fernandez’ shows deals with female genitalia and the various misconceptions that people have in Costa Rica.
The Loose Vagina Myth
Like in other Latin American cultures, quite a few men in Costa Rica reject the notion of sexually active women who may have known a few partners in their lifetimes. This rejection is often expressed by the demeaning belief that inactive vaginas are extremely tight, and that promiscuous women tend to loose the tautness of vaginal muscle tissue.
According to Dr. Fernandez, the above vaginal myth runs rampant in Costa Rica, and it is hopelessly flawed. If anything, the vaginal muscle tissue is one of the most elastic in human nature. What many men associate with a pleasant feeling of tightness could, in many cases, be a sign of vagina that has been getting a workout.
When a man feels a firm vagina that has been thoroughly lubricated through arousal, there are two explanations for this tightness: Kegel exercises or sexual activity.
Women in Costa Rica who enjoy lots of intercourse are bound to have tight vaginas because this is a physical activity that promotes firmness of the vaginal wall. This doesn’t mean multiple sex partners, either; a monogamous woman who enjoys sex a few times a day is essentially practicing vagina fitness, and she could also be doing this with a sex toy instead of a partner.
Could a woman who has a lot of sex become so tight as to make intercourse difficult? This is very unlikely; the physiological reaction of the vaginal muscle tissue is to relax and lubricate to allow penile insertion upon arousal. A woman who is really turned on will know when to tighten for the pleasure of her partner.
