A U.S. citizen by the last name of Krause, who is on the Interpol alert list for sexual abuse crimes in the United States, was turned back Monday, November 6, 2017 after arriving at the Juan Santamaría International Airport (SJO) outside of San José, Costa Rica.

Costa Rican immigration police stationed at the airport saw that Krause’s name came up on an Interpol alert list when they did a routine screening at the immigration station inside the airport.

Krause is listed as a dangerous person on Angel Watch, a website with information on sex offenders designed to help parents and caregivers protect their children from such individuals.
“National security is our institutional purpose, therefore, these actions to reject the entry of people who are undesirable to Costa Rica is part of our commitment to protect our citizens, and this action shows the effectiveness and efficiency of the immigration police, throughout the country,” said Esteban Obando, interim director of the immigration directorate in Costa Rica.
 

Costa Rica officials immediately sent Krause back to the United States.
