Washington, Apr 25 (EFE).– TV star and former U.S. Olympic athlete Bruce Jenner confirmed in a television interview the rumors about his sexual orientation that have circulated for some time, and said he feels like a woman and from now on he will live like one.

“For all intents and purposes, I am a woman,” Jenner, 65, told Diane Sawyer in an emotional interview on the ABC channel.

Since early this year, a number of newspaper reports have indicated that Jenner was having hormone treatments to undergo a complete sex change and become a woman.

“Bruce Jenner has always been confused with my gender identity. My brain is more female than it is male. It’s hard for people to understand that, but that’s what my soul is,” said the winner of a gold medal in the decathlon of the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal.

The Friday interview on ABC was his last as a man – interviewer Diane Sawyer referred to the one-time athlete as “he” – since from now on he will be “for all intents and purposes” a woman.

Years after his sports career ended, Jenner became a television star on a program with his celebrity stepdaughter Kim Kardashian.

Born in New York, thrice married and the father of six, Jenner was considered a national hero for the significance of his Olympic victory in the days of the Cold War between the United States and the Soviet Union. EFE
