US Coast Guard Intercepts 600 Kilograms of Cocaine in Costa Rica

In an operation carried out by Drug Control Police (PCD), the Ministry of Public Security and the USA Coast Guard authorities a vessel was detained carrying an important amount of cocaine.

The US Coast Guard intercepted the boat named “Mahi Mahi” and with a crew of three people 130 nautical miles from Matapalo in the Osa peninsula in Puntarenas.

The men arrested of last names Centeno Hernandez, 56 years old, Medina Azofeifa, 27 and Cabrera Granada, age 44, are all Costa Rican and only Medina Azofeifa has a criminal record, they were all transferred to Golfito, Puntarenas and placed in preventive custody.

During the revision, the PCD confirmed a total of 660 packages each with an approximate weight of 1 kilogram, for a total of 660 kilograms of cocaine.
