United Airlines inaugurated this December 17th, 2020, the first of two new routes that will be connecting Costa Rica and the United States before the end of the year.
The route inaugurated connects San Jose, Costa Rica to Los Angeles, California, USA, one of the North American cities with the largest concentration of tourists interested in traveling to Costa Rica.

“Studies show that the west coast of the USA, particularly the state of California, is one of the most important US markets. San Francisco and Los Angeles rank second and third in the top three of the USA cities with a higher concentration of tourists interested in traveling to Costa Rica: tourists with the profile we are looking for, love for nature, culture, and sustainability.

The first flight arrived this December 17th from Los Angeles at around 4 p.m.

“This new route is the result of good relations and private-public partnerships that can assist in providing more travel options to passengers”, stated Rafael Mencía, director of AERIS, a company in charge of managing the Juan Santamaria Airport.

Route Los Angeles-San Jose will operate 5 days a week at the beginning, but changes in frequency are expected during the high season of 2021.

The second route will be inaugurated on Saturday, December 19 with a flight connecting Denver to Costa Rica, this route will operate Saturdays only at first.

We are proud of contributing to the economic and tourism development of the country”, commented Carlos Granados, sales manager at United Airlines for Costa Rica and Nicaragua.

With these two new routes, United Airlines completes 27 weekly routes to the main airport in the country including those to and from Houston and Newark.
