Welcome to Washington Mr. President. The never ending World Series of Politics has you on the scoreboard.
The Democrats are claiming victory over the failure of the U.S. House of Representatives to vote last week on the passage of President Trump’s American Health Care Act of 2017 thereby keeping former President Obama’s Affordable Care Act of 2010 in place. There was no vote so President Trump did not lose, in fact he won, but the Republicans lost because they fragmented. They could have passed it and kick the can across the hall to the U.S. Senate for further debate and changes to be made, but they didn’t.
The U.S. House – Republicans and Democrats – were not ready to go any further with fixing a broken health care system so the entire matter has been delayed, but not forgotten. It’s back to the drawing board for health care in America.
In reality, nobody won but President Trump and here’s why. He tried. He put forth a health care plan as his top priority, however flawed it may have been. He tried and his supporters that put him in the White House saw that he tried. They witnessed Washington gridlock up close while standing behind President Trump during political rallies held over the weekend across the nation that were met with anti-Trump protesters. Fist fights broke out and arrests were made as the conflicts were broadcast on national news by the mainstream media eager to present President Trump in any negative light.
The American citizens that voted for President Trump have now seen first-hand just how slowly the wheels of establishment Washington turn. The health care issue has been put on hold as millions of Americans — now covered by ObamaCare – may lose their medical coverage this year due to the high cost of monthly premiums with eye-popping deductibles. The collapse of ObamaCare is on the horizon as Washington twiddles its thumbs while President Trump waits for a political payoff surely to come his way.
President Trump has accomplished some great things in his 70 years and now that he’s sitting in the White House he’s not about to stop now. Yes, Washington is a frustrating place and it will have trouble keeping up with this work-a-holic president who has four years in front of him to make a difference in the everyday lives of ‘star-spangled’ American citizens, but not undocumented immigrants.
Simmering just below the surface of Washington’s politics is a two-week old news story coming out of nearby Rockville, Maryland, that involves the alleged rape of a 14-year-old girl in a boy’s bathroom at Rockville High School, where the girl is a ninth grader. Arrested and charged with first-degree rape and first-degree sexual assault are two other ninth-graders, both Hispanic males — one is 17 years old while the other is 18. According to news reports, both these boys entered the United States illegally from Mexico in 2016 and made their way to Rockville.
Mainstream media — primarily CNN, CBS, ABC and NBC — are ignoring this rape story because any reporting of it helps President Trump hammer home his promises of building a wall along the U.S. southern border with Mexico and defunding more than 300 sanctuary cities across the nation.
Meanwhile, FOX News has covered this story extensively and with compassion for the young victim who was heard screaming from within the boy’s bathroom. Such stories illuminate important issues like nothing else in real life can and they must be reported on fully and truthfully, not ignored for political reasons by any news agency.
As reported on FOX News — court, school and city officials in Rockville claim that undocumented immigration has nothing to do with this incident. They say the court system will sort it out and if convicted these young men will suffer the consequences of jail time and/or deportation. Here again all common sense about this alleged crime has been thrown to the wind by the liberal left. This entire ugly mess could have been prevented back in 2016 when these teenagers fled Mexico dreaming of a better life in the U.S. They could have been stopped, but they weren’t. In the process, the life of a young woman has been altered for the rest of her days from those traumatic memories in that bathroom on that day.
President Trump is correct in his attempts to seal America’s borders. There will be more stories like Rockville.
