CORPUS CHRISTI (Kiii News) – Thirteen master and doctoral students from Texas A&M University – Corpus Christi will soon be heading to Costa Rica on the ultimate summer trip.

It’s not all fun and games, though. The counseling students will actually be taking part in a study abroad program. They will coordinate a wellness program at a health clinic down there, providing recommendations of services for special-needs students, and offering strategies to help families improve the dynamics between parents and children.

“Our main focus is how we’ll work with the Costa Rica population,” TAMUCC’s Dr. Lisa Wines said.

“I am very excited about the opportunity to actually go and work with this population, and work with the awesome professors that we have, as well as the other students,” said Amberleigh Mercado, a graduate student at TAMUCC.

The students and faculty take off for Costa Rica on the July 24, and will return on the July 31.
