The Costa Rica Ministry of Science, Technology and Telecommunications (MICITT) is inviting current high school students between the ages of 15-17 to register for the Science and Technology camps they are being offered this 2017.

Renewable energies, application of robotics in the areas of science and technology, conferences and recreation activities are part of the options offered for teenagers that are currently in high school and are interested in learning more on these topics. The camps will be held in July 10 -14.

A second event will be held for young adults ages 18 through 22 that have previously participated in the MICITT camps.

There are 140 available spots, one of the main requirements is that students cannot be failing any subjects in the current school year, the report card is requested as part of the registration process and each participant must have their parents´ permission to take part of the activity.

¨We want to motivate them to pick non-traditional careers, we want them to question things, to do research, and find new solutions to problems our communities face, we want them to form part of society and the economy based on their knowledge¨, explained Yarima Sandoval, Director of Human Resources of MICITT.

Only 50 spots will be available for the group from 18-22 years-of-age, and this camp will take place July 14-16.

The activities will take place at the Costa Rica Institute of Technology in San Carlos, and the selected students will be given a full scholarship that will cover the lodging facilities, food, transportation and materials for the different workshops and activities.
