Costa Rica has added another six states of the United States to the list of territories whose residents can enter the country by air for a total of 12.

The first six states were announced over a week ago: New York, New Jersey, New Hempshire, Vermont, Main and Connecticut, now the list also includes: Maryland, Virgina and DC that will have authorized access as of September 1st and two weeks later on September 15 the residents of Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and Colorado will be cleared to enter Costa Rica.

“We are allowing the entry of travelers from these 12 states because they currently have a similar epidemiological condition or lower than that of Costa Rica”, explained Gustavo Segura, Minister of Tourism.

Travelers must present proof of their residence in any of these states through their drivers license or state ID.
The tourism authorities also announced that now the Covid-19 negative test that must be presented by travelers can be from 72 hours prior to the flight (before it had to be taken 48 hours prior).

Costa Rica has also included other countries in the list of travelers who are authorized to enter the country that initially only included Canada, UK and the European Union. The new countries added to the list include: Japan, Thailand, China, Oceania (Australia and New Zealand) and Uruguay.

Tourists that arrive in yates or sailboats will also be authorized to enter the country as of this Tuesday, September 1st.
