Price Drop in Electrical Rates Approved in Costa Rica

Costa Rica Electrical RatesThe average family in Costa Rica will see a break in the ever increasing cost of living in the country.

With a reduction in the electrical consumption rates between ¢1,200 and ¢2,600 monthly, if the consumer uses less than 200 kilowatt hours per month.

The Autoridad Reguladora de los Servicios Públicos (Aresep) approved Monday a decrease of 13.6% for all electrical energy distributors, due to the positive effects of the green season rains on the hydroelectric production of the country.

Carolina Mora, spokesperson for the Aresep, said the rates would apply between October 1 and December 31 of this year.
