This time of the year Costa Rica gets particularly colorful, as trees such as Rosy Trumpet Tree (Roble Sabana-Tabebuia rosea), the Coral Tree (Erythrina poeppigiana), the Golden Trumpet Tree (Tabebuia ochracea) and the Jacaranda, bloom, offering a magnificent spectacle.

For the sixth year in a row the contest “Capture the Magic” (Capturá la magia) invites everyone to participate with photographs of this natural beauties. Contestants don’t have to be professionals, even photographs taken with mobile phones can participate.

The tree picked can be from any area of the country and the photo doesn’t necessarily have to feature the tree by itself, it can show any type of interaction with other species and even with humans.

Photos taken must be uploaded to the website: arbolesmagicos.org/concurso , the participants must fill in the form with all their personal information, the last day to take part in the contest is April 9th. After this date the photos will be shared on Facebook, and contestants can share them to get as many votes as possible.

Two prizes will be given, one winner will be selected by a jury of professional photographers that will pick the best three photos bases in quality, composition and originality. In a second category, five winners will be picked among those with higher number of votes from the public in social media.
