New York, May 22 (EFE).- British singer Paul McCartney and wife Nancy have purchased an apartment in New York for $15.5 million, the local press reported Friday.

The property is a luxury penthouse on Manhattan’s Fifth Avenue with stunning views of Central Park, the daily New York Post said.

The ultra-exclusive duplex was owned up to now by heirs of real-estate magnate Manny Duell.

The new home of former Beatles singer McCartney, 72, has 10 rooms and spectacular wraparound balconies of almost 75 sq. meters (more than 800 sq. feet) looking out on the park.

The penthouse has never been up for sale since the building was built in 1967, and besides the purchase price, its new owners will pay almost $13,000 a month in condominium fees, according to the real-estate agency Douglas Elliman. EFE
