A set of photographs of Hollywood actress Reese Witherspoon and her family vacationing at what looks like one of our beaches on the Pacific coast is currently making the rounds of several celebrity gossip websites.

The famous actress, who is married to talent agent Jim Toth, has not announced her pregnancy, although paparazzi and the informants they employ have been feeding reports to the tabloid media in the last few weeks. Also appearing in the photographs are Ms. Witherspoon’s two young children fathered by actor Ryan Phillipe.

The story appears to have been broken in the online edition of US Weekly, the same supermarket tabloid publication that hinted at the actress’ pregnancy about a month ago and continued to report on the matter ever since. Ms. Witherspoon made the cover of the US Weekly a few weeks ago, and the topic was centered on her unconfirmed pregnancy.

The coverage of the actress’ unreported pregnancy by the celebrity gossip media industry was getting a bit creepy, with reports of Ms. Witherspoon’s shopping and eating patterns (to check if she was having cravings), to her early-day behavior in public (to check for morning sickness or a “baby bump”).

There must be a good reason for the famous blonde and her new husband to keep the pregnancy from the media -after all Mr. Toth is a talent agent- but the media wanted confirmation, and they now they got it thanks to the photo set credited to FameFlyNet. What is interesting about this picture news agency in relation to Costa Rica is that it seems to provide all the paparazzi-style pictures of celebrities who come here for relaxation or business.

It used to be that celebrities purchased properties or moved to our country to avoid the onslaught of paparazzi and tabloid media reporters and informants encroaching upon their privacy, but with a news agency like FameFlyNet and its collaborators in Costa Rica, that may no longer be possible.

Such was the case with actor and filmmaker Mel Gibson, who in 2007 purchased Hacienda Dorada in Playa Barrigona, Guanacaste. While Mel Gibson’s acclaimed film “The Passion of the Christ” plays on television screens worldwide due to Holy Week and Easter, Hacienda Dorada is listed for sale.

The tabloid media has hinted that Mr. Gibson’s decision to sell Hacienda Dorada was made due to gossip reporters tracking him down at his finca in Nicoya. It seems that the gossip industry Mr. Gibson was trying to get away from managed to run him out of town in the end.
