The Braulio Carrillo National Park is one of Costa Rica’s most vibrant rainforests, it is full of interesting wildlife living in the dense forest.

Part of the Braulio Carrillo National Park is located in Heredia and part in San José, so as you might have guessed getting there doesn’t take too long, and it makes for a great one-day tour in Costa Rica.
Most visitors access this park, named after former Costa Rica President Dr. Braulio Carrillo, through Barva in Heredia. The park extends for 108,970 acres and it has three main ranger stations, Zurquí, Barva and Quebrada Gonzalez.

Visiting the Braulio Carrillo National Park is a wonderful adventure but you will need a tour guide, going into the park on your own is not advisable, even experienced visitors have lost their way in the forest.

Book your tour ahead of time through a licensed and reliable tour company, you can do the Aerial tram Tour which will take you over the treetops to get a better view of the animals hiding in the branches and will also provide you with a better idea of how vast and magnificent the place is.

Walking the trails of the park is also amazing and will give visitors a chance to run into other small mammals, there are 135 species in the park; bird watching is also a preferred activity since there are 347 identified species at Braulio Carrillo. A guided tour will take visitors to the orchids garden, butterfly garden and the terrarium. Another big favorite for those that rather go for a little more adrenaline is the canopy tour, nothing beats the thrill of flying through the rainforest.
