The Poas Volcano National Park opened its doors to the public again this past Friday, after several months of worked that involved fixing the areas that had suffered damages as a result of the eruptions and building new shelters for the security of the visitors.

As it had been announced in the past months the Park now has controlled access, with only 50 people being able to enter at a time; tickets must be purchased online through the website www.sinac.go.cr.

According to the Vice-Minister of Environment, Pamela Castillo, the modality implemented to purchase the ticket is similar to the one used for the Chirripo National Park, and it is part of the recommendations given by the National Emergency Commission to ensure a safe and organized access to the Park and have the capacity to respond to an emergency.

Initially, a maximum of 10 tickets can be purchased in one transaction, the groups to enter the Park are of a maximum 50 people and each group will have 20 minutes to enjoy the view of the Volcano.

Ticket Prices and Schedule:

The Park opens from 7 a.m. through 1 p.m. The tickets have a cost of ₡1,000.00 colones for nationals and residents, ₡500.00 colones for national and resident children between the ages of 2 and 12; $15.00 for none residents and $5.00 for non-resident children between the ages of 2 and 12. Children under 2 and nationals and residents over 65 years of age do not pay.

In order to purchase the tickets first time users will need to enter the information requested, select the date and schedule you prefer, enter the number of tickets you want to purchase and the type of visitor, and accept terms and conditions; the name and ID of each of the visitors must be entered.
