Rabat, Jun 28 (EFE).– A Moroccan woman strangled her three children, ages eight months to five years, in their apartment on Sunday before being arrested by police, Moroccan media reported.

According to the MAP news agency, the woman’s husband, from whom she was separated, reported the crime – which was evidently carried out early Sunday morning – to the police.

Upon arriving at the home, police found the three children’s bodies and, lying beside them, the mother, who was distraught and whom they arrested immediately.

The daily L’Economiste said that the 36-year-old woman has suffered from mental difficulties and on several occasions had been treated at the Ibn Hassan psychiatric hospital.

The daily said that the family had been experiencing financial difficulties because the father was not contributing to supporting his wife and children and, moreover, was abusing the woman. EFE
