A fitness model and beauty queen disillusioned with the Miss Costa Rica beauty pageant has slammed the television network that organizes the competition.

Nicole Carboni Renault is an extremely attractive and dazzling woman who has previously made controversial headlines for her outspoken opinions about the way Teletica (channel 7) handles the Miss Costa Rica pageant, which she thinks is rigged.

Miss Carboni’s latest comment against Miss Costa Rica accused Teletica of condoning social prostitution. In a fiery -and later deleted- Facebook update, Miss Carboni, who has been a runner up to the Miss Costa Rica crown, explains that she believes Teletica has allowed the evil forces of social prostitution to determine who should be crowned queen of all Ticos.
Social prostitution is a term sometimes used to describe the ancient practice of engaging in relationships for economic reasons and to climb social status. The gossip and tabloid media often reports on this social practice, particularly when it involves a young and attractive woman in a relationship with a wealthy, older man.

In her deleted social media update, Miss Carboni predicted that the next Miss Costa Rica is Elena Correa, who is currently in a relationship with Carlos Rodriguez, a powerful businessman who previously was the sole owner of La Guacima, the national auto racing speedway of Costa Rica. La Guacima racing complex was sold to media giant Grupo Nacion, an entity that has close ties with Teletica and with Mr. Rodriguez.

The business mogul, who is in his late 60s, has been with Miss Correa, who is 25 years old, a few years. Miss Correa is one of the 10 Miss Costa Rica finalists, and she is one of the pageant’s favorites. In the past, Mr. Rodriguez has been in relationships with various models and beauty queens, and all of them have been significantly younger. Of note is Melissa Mora, who makes headlines every time she has a wardrobe malfunction.

Miss Carboni blamed social prostitution for blocking her chance at being crowned Miss Costa Rica. She claims that Brenda Castro, the current queen, was crowned because of the economic influence of her romantic partner, who is an entertainment promoter. She also mentioned the former boyfriend of Karina Ramos, another influential entertainment businessman. At one point, Miss Carboni blamed the pageant judges on not given her the crown because she “did not look Tica enough;” for the record, Miss Carboni’s parents are from Italy and France.

Miss Carboni has also made headlines with her controversial decision of entering the Miss Miami pageant, which she won, by virtue of being a naturalized citizen of the United States. She vacated her duties as Miss Costa Rica runner up to participate in Miss Miami; her intentions were to eventually win Miss Florida and later Miss USA so that she could enter Miss Universe.

Although Miss Carboni was crowned Miss Miami, she would eventually be dethroned by pageant organizers for reasons that were not explained, but speculation suggests that her abandonment of status as Miss Costa Rica runner up may have been the cause.
