The Ministry of Public Security in Costa Rica will be reinforcing their preventive work at the frontiers with the help of new equipment and vehicles that were received by the institution.

The police delegations located in the areas of Los Chiles, Upala, San Carlos in Alajuela, La Cruz in Guanacaste as well as in Sarapiqui in Heredia, Talamanca in Limon, Corredores and Coto Brus in Puntarenas are the ones that will benefit from these new resources.

“The prevention of violence in all its forms is one of the main pillars of our work. In these areas, the work with migrant populations is fundamental, these new resources will allow us to reach more people with the different preventive programs we develop”, expressed the Vice-Minister of Public Security, Eduardo Solano.

This investment will allow the prevention of problems in these regions that include violent crimes, particularly human trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation, also inter-family violence and bullying.

In total, eight vehicles were received as well as electronic equipment and office furniture acquired through donation by the General Directorate of Migration and as part of the project “Integration of the migrant population through the expansion of coverage of preventive police programs in frontiers and communities with high number of immigrant population”.
