MONTEVIDEO, Uruguay–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Arcos Dorados, the world’s largest McDonald’s franchisee operating in 20 countries in Latin America and the Caribbean, is celebrating the successful rollout of its popular “Puertas Abiertas”, or “Open Doors”, program across the region. The program provides the opportunity for customers to tour McDonald’s kitchens and see firsthand the high quality, safety and cleanliness measures in place while their food is prepared. More than 1.2 million customers toured McDonald’s kitchens in Latin America in 2015, marking a three-fold increase from the prior year as the program’s popularity in Mexico saw it expand into other large markets, including Brazil and Argentina.

“Every month we welcome more than 100,000 guests into our kitchens as we seek to bring greater transparency to the dining experience. By stepping behind the counter, our customers can see for themselves the quality of our products, prepared with compliance to the highest standards of safety and cleanliness, by a qualified team. We are thrilled with the program’s success to date, and expect to welcome even more of our guests into our kitchens in 2016,” said Marcelo Rabach, Chief Operating Officer of Arcos Dorados.

In addition to inviting customers to tour its kitchens and learn firsthand how their favorite food and meals are prepared, Arcos Dorados also welcomes consumers, journalists, government officials and other stakeholders to visit many of its suppliers to see how they manage food safety, quality and logistics.
