A man identified as Wesner Chavarria of approximately 30-years-of-age passed away this Sunday in Uvita de Osa, Puntarenas, Costa Rica, apparently he was taking part of the 2018 Envision Festival that was being carried out from February 22 through the 26 in this location.
The circumstances of his death are still unclear and currently under investigation. The alert of a man that was at the beach in Uvita was received by the Costa Rica authorities at around 7 a.m. on Sunday, February 25, he was still alive by the time the ambulance arrived, witnesses just stated he had suddenly faded, he was taken to the hospital immediately, however, the man arrived at the hospital without vital signs and despite the efforts of the doctors was declared dead .
Chavarria had a bracelet that identified him as a volunteer in the event, he had no visible injuries or signs of violence. Authorities suspect the man could have died as a result of a drug overdose or could have drowned.
Doctor Kevin Barrantes from the Tomas Casas Hospital, stated that it is common to receive patients under the influence of drugs or with minor accidents during the days this festival takes place.
This is the 8th edition of the Envision Festival, which gathers thousands of people each year in this location.
The festival brings together art, spirituality, yoga, music, dance, live performances, education, and connection with nature.
