The Juan Santamaria International Airport will welcome travelers in a colorful and innovative way, with the incorporation of giant sculptures of Costa Rican wild animals, beautiful photographs of the country’s landscapes, technology and more.

These elements are all part of the “Sense of Place 2018” campaign which has the objective of making the hours in the airport fun and entertaining while at the same time awakening in them the desire to visit again.

This is the fourth year this campaign is done by AERIS, the company that manages the airport, “After the experiences in the last three years, when we have created unique and calid spaces, we discovered that the last three hours tourists spend in Costa Rica are in the airport, and during this time the tourist or traveler is nostalgic. As promoters of the image of the country we reached the conclusion that it is important to generate more experiences that highlight our culture, biodiversity and the Pura Vida essence”, explained Lucia Gutierrez, Commercial Manager of Aeris Costa Rica.

A 10 feet tall sloth is one of the main attractions. Made with recycled wood, the sloth represents the rich fauna of the country.
The investment in this campaign is of close to $130 thousand USD. Every two weeks the airport will add different elements; the second stage will be sculptures of toucans made in fiber glass and which will be decorated by different national artists.

Screens and photos are also part of this campaign.
