Costa Rica’s iconic dairy brand, Dos Pinos, just announced a new “helado” with a unique Costa Rican twist: Guayabita ice cream.
But, don’t get too excited, the product still needs a month or so before it hits the shelves, said Dos Pinos.
Since the company’s acquisition late last year of the Costa Rican candy company, Gallito, consumers have wondered what the buy-out might have in store as far as new products.
Years ago, Gallito decided to take the traditional guayaba (or guava in English) gummy candies found throughout Costa Rica and dip them in a chocolate covering, making them a sumptuous, chewy treat.
Now, you can see how they pair with creamy Dos Pinos ice cream. The guayabita candy-studded confection combining these two favorites will surely be a hit.
No sooner will people be sampling this new concoction than they’ll be wondering what’s coming next.
Do you have any ideas for combining Dos Pinos and Gallito products into something new and tasty? Any guesses on what next sweet delight might be?
Ana Lorena Borbón, communications officer for Dos Pinos, told CRHoy.com that, “After we made the announcement of the purchase [of Gallito] in October last year … people started to ask for and request new things. So, with this we fulfill our promise of creating products that are, ‘Always something better,’ and will soon launch our new Guayabita ice cream.”
