By her own account, Shelley Lubben had sex with hundreds of men and dozens of women in her prior life as a pornographic actress in the United States. These days, however, Ms. Lubben is one of the world’s leading reformers in the anti-pornography movement, and she is preparing a trip to Costa Rica.

Ms. Lubben will deliver a lecture at the Wyndham Herradura hotel and Convention Center, not far from San Jose, on November 16th. In anticipation of her visit to Costa Rica, Ms. Lubben was interviewed by entertainment reporter Ariel Chaves Gonzalez of Diario Extra, and she explained that her upcoming appearance in Costa Rica will mark the first time she comes to our country.

As a born-again Christian and director of the Pink Cross Foundation, a faith-based organization that reaches out to the public and to people who work in the pornographic industry. Through the Pink Cross Foundation, Ms. Lubben explains that she intends to provide education about the realities of the adult film industry.

During her tumultuous time as a pornographic actress, Ms. Lubben also worked as a prostitute. She was addicted to drugs and alcohol, became pregnant more than once, fell victim to cervical cancer after contracting the human papilloma virus and had part of her cervix surgically removed. She compares the adult film industry to slavery.

Ms. Lubben has appeared on TV programs such as Nightline, FOX News, Dr. Drew Show, Dr. Phil, and others. She has lectured in the Americas and across Europe. Her visit to Costa Rica comes at a time when pornographic productions are returning to our country after a period of inactivity.

These days, Ms. Lubben has three daughters and has been married for nearly two decades. Her fight against pornography is not limited to the marketing and production industry; she believes that people who consume pornography suffer from a psychological sickness.
