Two years ago, also coinciding with Valentines’ Day, the first movie of the Fifty Shades of Grey trilogy was released; and now the second installment of the erotic romance novel is premiering in local theaters.

The wait has been long, the first book was originally published in 2011 and it was not until 2015 that the fans all over the world were able to enjoy the big-screen version. The second part was expected for 2016 but that didn’t happen, problems between director Sam Taylor and author E.L. James caused delays in the filming; Fifty Shades Darker is directed by James Foley.

Fifty Shades Darker picks up where Fifty Shades of Grey left off: Sexy, business magnate Christian Grey is trying to win back young Anastasia Steele, who broke it off with him after realizing his BDSM (Bondage-Discipline-Dominance-Submission) lifestyle could be too much for her to handle.

Christian (Jamie Dornan) is forced to face some of his demons while at the same time trying to hold on to his relationship with Ana, portrayed by Dakota Johnson.

Anastasia is at the same time confused by her strong feelings for Grey and knowing that being with him might will not be easy and might not be the best for her, she is both aroused and intimidated by the controlling millionaire.

Cast includes, Marcia Gay Harden in the role of Christian’s adoptive mother; Kim Basinger as Elena Lincoln, the woman that introduces Christian to BDSM practices; Rita Ora as Christian’s sister Mia, among others.

Fifty Shades Darker reportedly had a cost of $55 million USD, and it’s expected to gather at least $40 million in the first weekend alone.

Despite receiving harsh critiques, Fifty Shades of Grey Trilogy is in the list of bestselling books, amounting over 100 million copies sold worldwide, the books were translated into 52 languages.

The third and last installment, Fifty Shades Freed is expected to be released in 2018.
