If you didn’t have a chance to go to the “La Luz Escalante” Gastronomic Festival last weekend, don’t worry about it, you will get a chance to try some of the delicious dishes presented at the festival during the next four weekends of December.

Barrio Escalante, located in the east side of San Jose, will become a gastronomic boulevard every weekend of this last month, offering different cuisine styles from 19 different restaurants that will take part of the activity.

One of the lanes of 33rd street will be closed down, to allow the establishment of stands, chairs and tables; while vehicles will be allowed to circulate in direction south to north only.
You can visit the boulevard every Saturday and Sunday in December from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Art and culture will also be present in this event.

“This is a family activity, to kick off the Christmas celebrations, a time to share, where we will offer Christmas menus, special and exclusive with great wine and food matching and excellent prices”, said Silvia Rodriguez, president of the Restaurant Association.

Meanwhile, for those who live in the west of San Jose, who don’t wish to make the drive to Escalante there’s an option this weekend in Escazu.

This coming Saturday, December 10 you can enjoy a variety of culinary styles at the gastronomic festival that will take place in Plaza Itskatzu.

The event starts at 11:30 a.m. with special activities for the kids, such as face painting, art classes, and a climbing wall; right at noon the different stands for each of the participating restaurants will be ready to receive the visitors and the event is schedule to finish at 7 p.m.

Outback (Steak House), Chancay (Peruvian Cuisine), Tacontento (Mexican Food) and Starbucks will be part of the festival that will also feature cultural and traditional presentations. The Costa Rica Brewerly will have a contemporary lounge for those that want to enjoy national beers.

The Costa Rican Tourism Institute will also have its stand with high level local artisans showcasing their products.

Ophans’ Promise Costa Rica will also be present, collecting Christmas gifts for children affected by hurricane Otto in Upala. (Gifts must come unwrapped and should not be battery operated or bellicose)
