The Drug Control Police (PCD) of the Ministry of Public Security, seized a total of 133 kilograms of cocaine hidden in a pineapple cargo.

The authorities got an anonymous call to their confidential line (1176) in reference to possible drug transportation case, the agents arrived at the Moin Port in Limon to confirm the report.

The drugs were found in a container which was supposedly carrying bananas, it was aboard a red vessel of name “Polar Chile” that had Ireland as the final destination; with the help of the K-9 unit, agents were able to find the packages of cocaine hidden between pineapple boxes.

The drugs were confiscated but because of the circumstances there have been no arrests for this case.

So far this year the police in Costa Rica have now seized over 500 million dollars USD in illegal cocaine. Will this number reach a billion dollars by years end?  Only time will tell.
