Residents of Playa Jaco in our Central Pacific coast are in for a spectacular sunset. On Sunday, April 1st, at the Malecon Bar Restaurant in Jaco, acclaimed Tica pop singer Debi Nova will perform an acoustic set as the sun goes down, as part of the Roxy Sunset Unplugged event.
For those who are not familiar with Debi Nova, she is a talented singer and songwriter who has found success in the international pop music charts with her 2004 hit “One Rhythm”, an infectious dance number that was also featured on the soundtrack of the video game FIFA Football 2005. She was part of legendary Tico rock band Gandhi and has collaborated with Will.I.Am from the Black Eyed Peas, among others.
Debi Nova is also the face of Roxy, the most prominent surfing lifestyle and fashion brand for women worldwide. Debi is the perfect representative of the Roxy brand. She lives and breathes Pura Vida with her infectious smile, affable personality, perennially soft and sun-kissed skin, and stunning good looks.
In the past, Debi has appeared on the American version of the hit reality television show Dancing with the Stars. Her first studio album, Luna Nueva, was released in 2010. Those in attendance at the Roxy Sunset Unplugged will be treated to music from Luna Nueva and other surprises that Debi has in store for her fans.
At the Roxy Sunset Unplugged, Debi will perform with fellow Tico musician Federico Miranda (also of Gandhi) and his own brand of Latin-tinged rock and jazz fusion. The event is scheduled at 5:00 pm.
Prior to the Roxy Sunset Unplugged, Debi will make an appearance at Mango Surf and Skate from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. She will sign autographs along with Leilani McGonagle and Nathaly Bernold, two young and promising members of the Roxy surf team.
Once the sun goes down and everyone has been relaxed by Debi’s angelical voice and looks, Tico rock-funk band Sonambulo will take over with an exciting after party. The members of Sonambulo are fresh off the stage at the Festival Imperial, where they played an electrifying set and hope to do the same at Playa Jaco.
