Costa Rican Tourism Board and CINDE to Promote Foreign Investment in the Tourism Sector

The Costa Rica Tourism Board and the Costa Rican Investment Promotion Agency (CINDE) signed a new strategy for the search and promotion of foreign investment projects in the tourism sector that have to do with the respect to the authenticity, values and cultural tradition of national communities.

“We will support self-projects of orange economy, those industries that support culture as an engine of development”, commented Maria Amala Revelo, Minister of Tourism. “A coordinated and efficient effort is necessary to promote Costa Rica as an adequate destination for foreign investment in the area of tourism, and CINDE, considered the number one investment promotion agency according to the International Trade Center (ICT) has the experience and the strategic allies to help us reach our goals”, she concluded.

Jorge Sequeira, General Director of CINDE, commented, “This agreement will allow CINDE to promote the arrival of tourism infrastructure projects that will have a direct impact on the generation of jobs in the country. We are making available our disposition and collaboration to ICT, our technical experience in the attention of investors, in such a way that we can increase the positive impact of the work carried out by both institutions.”

Direct tourism foreign investment includes hotels, entertainment facilities, corporations, theme an sports facilities, port or airport infrastructure to support the tourism sector.

“For decades now, the tourism activity has represented one of the sectors of economy with higher dynamism. Thanks to this agreement, now ICT will have the support to promote tourism infrastructures. I am sure this alliance will generate plenty of benefits for all Costa Ricans, which will translate in wellness for the country and job opportunities in the entire national territory”, said Dyalá Jiménez, Minister of Foreign Commerce.
