We know soccer is Costa Rica’s main sporting event, but there are many other disciplines in which Costa Rica has international participation. Here are a few important events coming up:
The Costa Rican FutSal National Team will take part of the FIFA FutSal World Championship Colombia 2016. Costa Rica is part of Group E along with Salomon Islands, Kazakhstan and Argentina; the Ticos will have their debut game on Monday, September 12 at 5 p.m. local time when they face Salomon Island. The second match is scheduled for September 15 also at 5 p.m. against Kazakhstan, and the first phase will be completed on Sunday, September 18 when they measure up with Argentina. All games will be streamed live online by channel 7 (Teletica).

Costa Rica Represented in Rio Paralympics
September 14th Camila Haase (swimmer) and Leonel Solis (cyclist) will have their first participation in the Rio 2016 Summer Paralympics. The following is the schedule of competitions for the Costa Rican representatives:

Sept. 14 Women’s 100m Breaststroke (6:37 a.m. Costa Rica time)
Sept. 15 Women’s 100m Butterfly (6:36 a.m. Costa Rica time)
Sept. 16 Women’s 100m Backstroke (6:00 a.m. Costa Rica time)

Sept. 14 Individual Crono 30km (10:30 a.m. Costa Rica time)

The Costa Rican Taekwondo National team will be participating in the XIX edition of the Central American Student Sports Games 2016 that will take place in Honduras, September 27-30. 11 Male and 11 female athletes along with their trainers will take part of this tournament where Costa Rica has been the defending champion since 2009.
Costa Rica will host Central America and Caribbean Wheelchair Basketball Championship 2016 (CentroBasket BSR 2016) to take place October 25 through October 30.
