Costa Rica stood out in its category and took the recognition as Best Exhibitor for the Americas and the Caribbean at the ITB Travel Trade Show in Berlin.
“The stand represents the first impression of the country and for many people it is the only approach they have had with the country and even with America; for this reason we transformed our presence in international fairs, for our culture and authenticity to be reflected in every corner. Costa Rica sells unique travel experiences and this is precisely what we promote in our stand, an experience to go deep in the green of our country, enjoy our gastronomy, a good coffee, our music, dances and traditions”, explained Mauricio Ventura, Minister of Tourism, who also highlighted the importance of this recognition as it helps Costa Rica consolidate its image in the world and positions it as a country that can compete in five continents and be among the best in tourism.
180 countries from five different continents take part of the ITB Travel fair and it receives over 100 thousand participants, 160 thousand visitors and 5 thousand journalists; each country tries its best to find a way to stand out and innovate in each edition. The evaluation criteria includes the general aspect of the stand, the attention to visitors, access to information, design, creativity, the use of sustainable materials, among others.
The decoration of Costa Rica’s stand includes natural plants, elements of Costa Rican culture and gastronomy, music and native dances. It also uses LED screens, video walls and photo printing for visitors, along with 43 work stations for Costa Rican tourism companies that are part of the event.
The country was also chosen by ITB Berlin News for an exclusive interview
