In the ranking of “The Top Best Countries to Invest In” 2019 Costa Rica took the third position in the world only after Uruguay and Saudi Arabia.

This study is updated once a year by U.S. News & World Report with the backing of Wharton school of the University of Pennsylvania and BAV Group. It has the specific analysis on investment topics that gathers answers given by 20,300 people from 36 countries in all continents for a wider survey that also feeds other reports. The Top Best Countries to Invest In covers the perception of 7,000 business people and considers 8 of the 65 items of the total survey, being: corruption, economic stability, dynamism, tax environment, qualified human talent, innovation and technological experience.

“The result of this study could influence the decisions of companies that do not know us as a business destination to establish their investments in our country”, commented Dyala Jiménez, Minister of Foreign Commerce, who continued, “it is notable that the eight characteristics that this analysis takes into consideration are areas that we work hard on to improve our standards of public policy under the process of entering the OECD, areas in which we will also continue working once we are members of the organization.”

To Jiménez, the tool is valuable since it also reaffirms some of the country’s virtues, economic and political stability, human talent and sustainable development. In fact, the publication highlights Costa Rica as one of most stable in Central America politically and economically.

“We must find inspiration in this study to reach our maximum potential to continue attracting the investment that contributes to the growth of the life conditions of all citizens”, concluded Jiménez.
