The first Urban Wave in the country was inaugurated in the Jass Surf Shop in Playa Jaco, Puntarenas, where several surfers, including the coach of the National Surf Team, Jim Hogan, were able to test it out.

An Urban Wave simulates popular boarding such as surfing and body boarding, specially produced surfboards allow you to surf standing up, on your knees or lying down. It is designed to prevent falls and injuries common in skateparks, it is specifically designed to “surf” it. It also allows to simulate tailslides and moves that can’t be managed in other ramps.

The Urban Wave will open to the public soon and will be used as a tool for the National Surf Team to practice during their camps.

“It is a great way to correct technical details in surfing, like the use of the hands, the legs, routine movements that need work, and reach perfection to apply it afterwards in the water”, explained Jose Ureña, owner of the project.

In Europe and the United States this has been a great tool to use for surfers at professional levels.

The Urban Wave can be used by two people at the time, it will be open to the public through previous reservation and the price will be of three thousand colones (under $6.00)an hour or five thousand colones for two people. You can make your reservations by calling 2643-3850.
