Sometimes is difficult to find different things to do in Costa Rica, so here are some options of cultural events that will be taking place in the upcoming days:
Film:
The first lady of the revolution / Already in movie theaters
This movie is based in the life of the U.S. author and journalist Henrietta Boggs, the first wife of Costa Rica’s former president Jose “Pepe” Figueres and his partner during the 1948 revolution. Henrietta is 98 years old today. This movie is directed by Emmy winner Andrea Kalin, and it’s a production of Spark Media; the book is inspired on a book published by Boggs in 1992 titled “Casada con una Leyenda” (Married to a Legend) . Boggs was born in South Carolina and met Jose Figueres Ferrer when she was 23 years old.
Music:
Costa Rica Aerea (Aerial Costa Rica) / September 29 and 30 8 p.m. at the Melico Salazar Theater
A one of a kind event by the National Music Center that offers a fusion between music and photography; a collection of photography of the book Costa Rica Aerea by brothers Sergio and Giancarlo Pucci will be mixed with the music of Costa Rican composer Andres Soto and interpreted by the National Symphony Orquestra. 75 musicians under the direction of Carl St. Clair, will be performing the music work inspired by the aerial photos captured by the cameras of the Pucci brothers. An impressive audiovisual work you won’t want to miss.
Tickets can be purchased at the Melico Salazar Theater ticket booth Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 12 noon and from 1-5 p.m. The cost of the ticket is of around $18 (10.000 Colones)
A Night with Bonham / October 1st at the Hard Rock Café 9 p.m.
A Tribute to famed English Drummer John Bonham, the Led Zeppelin drummer, considered one of the greatest drummers of all times and a reference for rock drummers today. 25 Costa Rican drummers who are part of different music bands will be part of this event along with other musicians and singers, their repertoire will include songs such as: The Ocean, I’ve Been Loving You and The Rover.
