Over the past nine months the Burger King fast food chain has been resurrecting after its operations bottomed out in Costa Rica in October 2015, reported Costa Rica’s business daily El Financiero.

The brand’s new franchisee, Corporación JV de Centroamérica, has invested no less than US$2.5 million to open eight eateries in that time.

Mario Jiménez, general manager of Burger King Costa Rica, said the company would be opening an additional two to four other outlets by the end of the year, and plans to increase its menu offerings to include things like chicken fingers and salads.

Wednesday, Burger King inaugurated a locale in the center of Tibás, a central San José district.

Other locations opened over the past nine months include Parque de la Paz, Epa Tibás, Novacentro, Liberia, Plaza América, Multiplaza Escazú, and Terrazas de Lindora.

“We will soon be opening an outlet in the center of San José, by the National Theater; that will be in about two months,” revealed Jiménez.

About 300 employees cover the current Burger King operations in Costa Rica, about 40 percent of whom are former Burger King employees.
