A Boat Carrying 6 Tourists was Lifted Into the Air by a Whale in Osa, Costa Rica

Saturday September 8th a whale gave the scare of a lifetime to a group of 6 tourists and their 2 guides in Sierpe de Osa, Puntarenas, Costa Rica.

According to tour guide César Moraga, the group of tourists were enjoying a whale watching tour in the area known as “El Paraiso”, they finished watching them and started their way back to Isla del Caño when all of a sudden about one mile from the island out of nowhere a whale came out of the water lifting the boat and sending the occupants flying in the air, luckily the boat didn’t overturn.

Carlos Rodríguez from the Red Cross explained that they evaluated 6 female tourists that suffered bruising and minor trauma when they hit the water, one of them did lose her consciousness for a few minutes, they were all transferred to the Tomas Casas hospital and they were all reported stable. The nationalities of the tourists were not released.
