ATV racing (cuadracross) continues to gain popularity in Costa Rica, the fifth date of the ATV National Championship is scheduled to   take place at La Olla racetrack, this Sunday, September 4, in Sabanilla, Alajuela, starting at 9 A.M. A lot of improvements have been made to this track to ensure that it presents excellent conditions for the race, however the weather may be a determining factor, a wet racetrack is good, helps with traction and speed, but excess rain doesn’t help.

A total of 8 divisions, from rookies to experts and veterans, kids, teenagers and adults, male and female competitions will be held all day, this is the fifth of seven dates that will define the national champions in each category.

Women racers steal the show

The most anticipated match is the female competition, where Nicole Garcia and Pamela Guzman will be disputing first place, there is only one point differential between them with Garcia leading the competition, yet they have another strong competitor in newbie Karla González.

Rolando Quesada leads the rookie division, with Luis Acuña and Luis Castro holding second and third place respectively.

In the expert category, Nogui Solano struggled through his second hit in date four, Edikson Hidalgo gave him a hard time but was unable to take the lead, Solano managed to retain the first place and he remains the strongest candidate to win his division.

Should the current weather conditions maintain through Sunday an extremely wet and muddy racetrack will make for a difficult race and a physical challenge for the participants.
