Airstrikes on a hospital in northern Syria has wounded babies staying in incubators, according to the UK-based Save the Children NGO, which said there is “no excuse for this vile attack”, in a tweet.

The bombing, which took place on Friday night, targeted the entrance of a maternity hospital in the Syrian province of Idleb, said the non-profit in a recently released statement.

The bombing wounded several babies, whose incubators fell to the ground due to the airstrike. A pregnant woman and a member of the medical staff were also injured.

The hospital has now ceased to function, except for the emergency ward, due to the damage caused by the bombing.

The hospital was the only one of its kind in western Idleb, serving about 1,300 women and assisting 300 births per month.

Sonia Khush, the charity’s Syria director, condemned the bombing, saying it was “a shameful act” and “there is no excuse” for this attack. EFE

30 Civilians Killed by Airstrikes in Aleppo

Cairo, Jul 30 (EFE).- At least 30 people were killed or wounded in bombing targeting the village of Abien on the western outskirts of the Syrian northern city of Aleppo, The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported on Saturday.

The SOHR did not specify the number of dead and wounded people so far and could not identify the aircraft carrying out the bombing, although the area has been previously bombed by Syrian and Russian air forces.

The London-based NGO also reported airstrikes on other areas of Aleppo such as al-Atareib, Kafr Naha and Haian, but did not specify casualties.

SOHR has documented the deaths of at least 58 civilians, including 14 children and three women, since July 16 in bombings targeting the Syrian town of al-Atareib and its suburbs.

At least 15 civilians, including eight children, were killed and an unspecified number were wounded on Friday in the bombing of al-Atareib, controlled by the opposition in the west of Aleppo.

The airstrikes coincided with the start of a humanitarian operation announced by Russia in Aleppo, which has been questioned by the United States and the United Nations.

Both Russian and Syrian authorities announced on Thursday the opening of four humanitarian corridors for civilians and moderate rebels to leave the Syrian city. EFE
