Aeromexico airlines announced today in a press conference where President of Costa Rica, Carlos Alvarado was present, a new route they will begin operating November 10, connecting Mexico City with Liberia, Guanacaste.

With a frequency of two flights a week, the route will aim to offer a new alternative to the more than 100 thousand Mexicans that travel to Costa Rica a year.

The Costa Rica Tourism Board, highlighted the importance of this new route since Mexico is one of the most important and attractive markets for Costa Rica.

Offering new options for tourists to travel to Costa Rica, promotes the visitation to the country and brings benefits to the economy of the province of Guanacaste and the many families that depend on this industry.

Maria Amalia Revelo, Minister of Tourism, stated “Studies carried out by ICT, show that there are more than half a million Mexicans interested in visiting the country by 2019. 68% of the Mexicans that visit Costa Rica do so as tourists, but we know that the Mexican market has a huge potential for the convention and meetings tourism”.

This new route is the result of a public-private alliance.

Sergio Allard, Executive Director of Institutional Relations of Aeromexico, commented “We are very proud to announce this new flight, because it’s not just the direct flight from Mexico City, but through Aeromexico’s connectivity in Mexico City we can offer more than 50 destinations that will connect in Mexico, United States, Canada, Asia and Europe, plus all our alliances in particular with Delta Airlines that will allow us to connect with Liberia. Our dream is that this flight is a success and that we can contribute with an important development of Liberia, through an increase in tourism, that translates in more employment”.
