Costa Rica Piano Festival Takes Place July 16 – July 21

The Costa Rica Piano Festival in its fifth edition will take place July 16 through July 21 and presentations will take place in the Musical Arts School (EAM) of the University of Costa Rica, the National Theater, the Eugene O’Neill Theater, the Costa Rica Tennis Club and the Municipal School of Integrated Arts of Santa Ana (EMAI).

“The Costa Rica Piano Festival is one of the most important cultural initiatives of recent years in Costa Rica, focusing on the artistic development of young local and international pianists”, explains the Festival’s website.

This year’s Festival includes international guests: Vladimir Khomyakov a concert pianist, conductor, chamber musician and soloist who has participated with some of the world’s best symphony orchestras; Dr. Sergey Kuznetsov who studied in the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, Russia, he received the Doctorate of Musical Arts Degree from the USC and has performed throughout the world; and Sean Kennard, who has appeared as soloist with orchestras around the world, and joined the piano faculty at Stetson University in 2017.

The Costa Rica Piano Festival is open for advanced piano students of all ages and nationalities. Participants will have the opportunity to take academic courses, private lessons, master classes, and seminars with each of the guest artists.

On Monday, July 16 the Festival will kick start at 7 p.m. with a student recital that is open to the public and is free of charge.
