The idea is to get travelers, specially foreign tourists to identify with the country the minute they get off the plane at the Juan Santamaria Airport in Costa Rica.
“Sense of Arrival” is the name of the project that will transform the cold halls of the main international airport in Costa Rica into scenes inspired by the rainforests, the paradisiac beaches and culture and traditions of the country. It also appeals to the visitors’ emotions in hope to create a connection with the country.
“Nowadays tourists around the world seek to live experiences that gets them close to the real local culture and discover a destination in a comprehensive way; for this reason, we wanted to change the traditional concept of airports, and give ours Costa Rican personality”, explained the now former Minister of Tourism, Mauricio Ventura through a press release.
“The objective is that visitors immerse themselves in the landscapes, culture and our nature, that they feel our warmth and get motivated to begin their adventure in our country the minute they live the airport”, continued Ventura.
“When we are faced with a strong competition in which all destinations are showcasing their most impressive natural attractions, it is necessary for us to stand out and present ourselves as an innovative destination, which generates authentic travel experiences”, concluded the former Minister.
Costa Rica receives close to 3 million tourists every year. Tourism has become one of the main economic activities for the country and the main promoter of foreign investment.
