Around dawn today, Monday, June 26, San José, Costa Rica’s police received an usual phone call.

A man who had broken into someone’s home was fast asleep on the couch, reported Channel 7 Teletica television news station.

Apparently the man intended to rob a house in San Francisco de Dos Ríos, a southern San José district, but fell asleep in the living room instead.

The home happened to be that of the well-known DJ, Lawrence Casal, and the robber had forced his way in through the living room window.

Casal told local media that his wife got up at dawn and saw a man asleep on the sofa. She alerted her husband, and she and her children hid in another room.

Casal then went to approach the man, but could not awaken him. So, Casal thought he better call the authorities, who also were unable to awaken the robber.

Police and Red Cross officials decided to transport the man to the Calderón Guardia Hospital in San José for observation.

No further information on the subject was available, as he was not carrying any identification. Nor did he have any stolen objects on his person.

One is left with the doubt – did he just come to snooze?
