What the heck just happened? The New York Times, the Washington Post and the Wall Street Journal, all openly-liberal publications considered mainstream media, just gave President Donald Trump’s Tuesday ‘address to the nation’ a thumbs up!
Then ultra-liberal CNN released a poll on Wednesday, taken just after the president’s speech that showed 69 percent of Americans thought the United States of America is now headed in the right direction. Only a year ago, those numbers were just the opposite. This is big.
Next year at this time President Trump will deliver his first State of the Union address, but Tuesdaynight before a joint meeting of the U.S. Congress President Trump delivered a dose of reality to the Democrats in that ObamaCare is out, illegal criminal immigrants are out, the flow of drugs into America from Mexico must stop, construction of the USA/Mexico border wall will begin soon, a trillion-dollar infrastructure rebuilding campaign is about to begin and a new war against radical Islamic terrorism is underway.
Reacting to President Trump’s speech, the Dow Jones Industrial Average — AKA the stock market — spiked over 21,000 for the first time in its history and did not retreat. Optimism in the future is to blame. The president’s stock has gone up in value.
President Trump spoke directly to the American people to lay out his agenda for America. He did not attack any of his Democratic opponents, he didn’t have to.
One of those magic moments in time occurred when President Trump spoke directly to Carryn Owens who was sitting above the chamber in the viewing balcony. Owens’ husband U.S. Navy Seal Senior Chief William “Ryan” Owens was killed during a raid against radical Islam in Yemin just a week after Trump took office. This death is President Trump’s first as command-in-chief of the armed forces.
President Trump, accompanied by his daughter Ivanka, met privately with the Owens family as the soldier’s remains arrived at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware. It was during this visit that the magic moment — with the nation watching — got its start.
The evening’s longest and near-record setting standing ovation was for Carryn Owens as she and her late husband were recognized by the president. Carryn openly wept and looked to the heavens as a grateful nation paid their respects for this supreme sacrifice for freedom. Sitting next to Carryn was Ivanka Trump, and it’s apparent these two have struck up a friendship that will last a lifetime. It was not easy for Carryn to make this appearance and Ivanka visibly helped her get through the agony in a touching and compassionate way. A little kindness goes a long way.
Several key Democrats were photographed sitting stone-faced during the lengthy standing ovation for Carryn Owens and those photographs will certainly reappear during Campaign 2018 in which 35 Senate Democrats are up for reelection along with the entire U.S. House of Representatives.
Throughout the speech, the Republicans were seated all in a group to President Trump’s left, while the Democrats all sat together on the president’s right. As the president spoke and reviewed his agenda for America, the Republicans clapped and cheered over and over while the Democrats sat there expressionless. It’s apparent that the Democrats don’t want to work with this president on much of anything except maybe the infrastructure program to rebuild highways, bridges, dams and airports throughout the nation bringing much needed work to their voting districts.
As things are now U.S. Senate Republicans outnumber Democrats 54 to 44 with two independents. The U.S. House is solidly in Republican control. President Trump now has two years before Campaign 2018 to get his agenda for America passed through congress and a new national healthcare program in place. If this president delivers on his promises the Democrats will further become an endangered species.
Television ratings of President Trump address did not set any records, however the analysis by political commentators very well might. But the president scored high marks with the hard working Americans that put him in the White House.
President Trump has now received his first official standing ovation. There is no going back.
