costa-rica-start-keylor-navas-cover-02Star goalkeeper Keylor Navas, who mostly resides in Spain by virtue of his contract with the stellar Real Madrid football club, recently explained during an interview that he feels less freedom in Costa Rica.

Mr. Navas is currently on vacation in his native Costa Rica after recovering from a surgical procedure that was performed shortly after the Real Madrid obtained the UEFA Champions League title in an exciting final match against the Atletico Madrid.

At a press conference in Santa Ana, where his fashion model wife Andrea Salas recently opened a luxury spa, Mr. Navas tried not to steal the spotlight away from his spouse, but that proved difficult. He was interviewed by Ariel Gonzalez Chaves of daily tabloid Diario Extra. Mr. Gonzalez asked Mr. Navas about how his family deals with social media profiles, to which the footballer explained that they never mean to post anything with ill intentions. At that point, Mr. Gonzalez asked:

Does your family feel more freedom here than in Spain?

To which Mr. Navas laughed before answering:

It’s the other way around. I feel more freedom over there than here [in Costa Rica.]

Mr. Navas also explained that he cooks paella, the traditional seafood rice platter that is iconic in Spain, thanks to a recipe he learned while living in the Valencia region. Prior to signing with Real Madrid, Mr. Navas played for the Levante football club of La Liga Española. Apparently, one of the executives of the Levante lived close to Mr. Navas, and they became friends. It is believed that the millionaire transfer to Real Madrid as concocted as the goalkeeper learned to make paella.

The star goalkeeper is an important player in the National Football Team of Costa Rica, which will soon resume its qualifying rounds to the 2018 FIFA World Cup, which will be hosted by Russia.
