Author’s Note: The following letter was penned by the father and sister of an expat businessman who has gone missing in Liberia, the seat of the Guanacaste province in Costa Rica. If you know of this man’s whereabouts, please refer to the contact information at the end of this article.

To whom it may concern:

We are writing this heartbreaking letter to all the news media outlets in Costa Rica so that everyone is aware of the disappearance of Emilio Canales Redondo.

Emilio is a Mexican national. He lives in Liberia, Guanacaste. His car was found abandoned in the Rodeito neighborhood of Liberia, about 50 meters away from a junkyard. His car is a silver Toyota Yaris, and it bears the license plate BFH-606.

The security guard at his house was the last person to see him on Friday, August 7th, at around one in the morning. He lives in Costa Rica due to work-related duties, and it seems as if his employer already reported his missing status to the police.

We have submitted a missing person report to the Mexican consulate and to the consulate of Costa Rica in Guadalajara, State of Jalisco.

The Office of Judicial Investigations (Spanish initials: OIJ) is already investigating, but we ask anyone who read this to helps us spread the word and distribute his photo across social media circles.

Emilio Canales stands about 1.80 meters tall. He is dark-skinned, slim, has dark hair cut short, and he has brown eyes.

His Facebook Timeline is https://www.facebook.com/emiliocanales

We thank you in advance for taking the time to read this. Please contact us if you know something or if you can help us. Thank you.

Sincerely,

Jose Guadalupe Canales (father)
